Not very convincing as a #2, is he? That’s who the Cards are talking to now. Other alternatives:
- Suppan – still probably too pricey. The Pirates (gasp!) may outbid everyone for him.
- Weaver – reportedly wants four years, Cards haven’t talked to Boras about him.
- Trachsel – will we stoop this low?
- Sele – another not very appetizing option.
- Zito – we can dream
At least we signed Russ Springer for the ‘pen, so that Looper can join the rotation. Why aren’t you laughing? It’s a joke, isn’t it?
